Hello, Miami.
We arrived in Miami in the early afternoon. I don’t have the time or energy right now for a full post because we’ve spent all day getting settled and dealing with our first set of challenges. But I wanted to post at least something here to let you know that we arrived safely.
We’ll be spending the next several days establishing ourselves here in Miami. At some point, after I’ve caught up on sleep and work, I’ll post more of an introduction to the new Miami and a description of some of our projects as they get started.
This is not the city I grew up in, but what city stays the same forever? Cities are living, breathing creatures with a life of their own. They have a certain character to them, but the details are constantly evolving. After a day of getting to know this city, I can say with some confidence that it still has enough in common with the old Miami to be worthy of the same name. No need to call it New Miami, Ocean Miami, Atlantis, or anything else. This is, in fact, Miami. It just happens to have a lot less people and a lot more water.
We have our work cut out for us, but it’s good to be home.
